Nashville: Kicking Off Our Honeymoon Journey
There was something extra magical about this particular trip to Nashville. Not only were we heading out of town…we were heading out as husband and wife. Just married, just beaming, and just beginning our very first adventure together.
We pulled into Long Term B parking at the Nashville International Airport (BNA), and honestly, even that felt special. We were wearing our classic “Hubby” and “Wifey” shirts from 2017, wheeling our luggage across the lot like it was a runway. Naturally, we had to stop and take a few photos. It was our first time at the airport together, and my first time ever flying.
The butterflies were equal parts nerves and excitement. Everything felt brand new, and not just because we were flying somewhere tropical. It was because we were stepping into the first of many chapters we’d get to write side by side. What better way to kick off forever than a honeymoon that started right here in Nashville?
BNA Airport: A Sweet Start with Surprises
Before boarding, we stopped for dinner at Authentic Noshville New York Delicatessen inside the airport. When we told them we were celebrating our anniversary, they brought us a whole stainless steel bowl of assorted pickles. It was such a kind and quirky gesture. We weren’t sure if it was symbolic or just classic New York deli hospitality, but we were grateful (and amused) either way. If anyone knows if pickles mean something special, let us know. Haha!
As we made our way to the gate, Rich let the JetBlue team know we were newlyweds. The airline staff went above and beyond. They hand-wrote “Newlyweds Married Yesterday” on our boarding passes with hearts and smiley faces. Then came the announcement over the intercom. Everyone on the plane clapped and cheered for us. We were so touched by their kindness.
The surprises didn’t stop there. On our connecting flight from Fort Lauderdale to Barbados, JetBlue welcomed us with balloons, water bottles, and foam lights. It was the most darling honeymoon sendoff. We truly felt celebrated.
Barbados Honeymoon: A Blog for Another Time
While we could easily gush about every single moment of our Barbados honeymoon (and trust us, we will), that adventure deserves its own dedicated post. From the turquoise waters to the island sunsets, every part of it was unforgettable. But for now, we’ll fast-forward to the moment we landed back in Nashville, still glowing from the trip of a lifetime.
Nashville, TN: A Sweet Ending at Ellendale’s
On our way home from the airport, we made one last stop before closing the chapter on our honeymoon adventure, Ellendale’s in Donelson. This charming restaurant was the perfect place to wind down after a long day of travel.
Rich ordered steak and fries, while I enjoyed a chicken dish with sautéed green beans. The atmosphere was cozy, and the meal felt like a quiet exhale after days of excitement and celebration. Sadly, Ellendale’s has since closed its doors, but the memory of that meal and what it represented, the return home as husband and wife, still lingers warmly in our hearts.
Nashville to Forever: The Start of Our Journey
This trip to and from Nashville will always be one of our most cherished memories. From the giddy excitement of arriving at the airport together as newlyweds, to being showered with kindness by the JetBlue crew, to wrapping it all up with a quiet meal at Ellendale’s…it was the kind of experience that feels like a movie montage of love, adventure, and fresh beginnings.
It wasn’t just the start of our honeymoon. It was the start of our marriage, our life together. And Nashville, with all its charm and surprises, played the perfect backdrop to that beautiful beginning.
